Dinner and a Movie with a Twist!

Dinner and a Movie with a Twist!

Friday's Fabulous Fun topic is on things to do for "Date Night" and short weekend getaways. Friday is the end of the work week, and for many, its "Date Night!" Why Friday and not Saturday? Generally its because you can sleep in on Saturday and Sunday morning is church. At least, that has been the tradition for several generations. Of course, in today's society, with how things have changed so much, it isn't that way so much anymore.

Our economy has been in the dumps for a while now, so many of you are seeking less expensive dates to go on where you're not having to work overtime just to make up for going out on the weekend. For those of you married couples with kids, just getting some time alone can be a challenge.

So how about a night in WITHOUT the kids? You will have to find a babysitter no matter where you go, so why not find childcare that can take the kids for an overnight slumber party, like a friend or family member, which is fun for them, and plan a night in?

Turn your special night in into a mini-vacation by matching the dinner menu to the movie. Here are some ideas:

1. Rent a Kung fu action flick and order some Chinese take out.
2. Rent an Italian family drama and share a big bowl of spaghetti or lasagna
3. Rent a spicy and sexy love drama and have Strawberries and whip cream for desert.
4. Rent a sports drama and eat something more health conscious like a  Veggan meal

My personal favorite is renting "9 1/2 Weeks" with Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke and getting a variety of foods to feed each other during the food section of the movie I promise you won't see much of the movie after that section, so make sure you pause it, or you can just go back to where you left off after the romancing fun lol.

Date night in is always a fun change, for both you and the kids. They get to have a sleep over and you get some uninterrupted time alone in the comforts of your own home. Not only that, but you will probably spend less than $50 on this date, and still have enough left over to put gas in the car and go pick the kids up the next day!
